Schools for Change in Africa (SCA) is a non-profit organization that seeks to improve the lives of West African children by giving them access to education. We are currently raising funds for and building a middle school in Tolotama, Burkina Faso.
Why Tolotama? There's only one school there, and it's an elementary school. Parents can't afford tuition and board at the big-town school 20 miles away, nor can they afford the loss of their children's help at home. Many kids in Tolotama don't go to school.
We believe that our modest efforts will make a difference.
Schools for Change is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a $3,500 grant from the Terracon Foundation! This grant will be put towards the construction of the water pump, the first phase in the construction of the Tolotama school.
Girl Rising Screening
We were so excited to hold a film screening of the docudrama Girl Rising at Denver's Mayan Theater! It's such a powerful story and a window into the challenges girls face in education. Make sure to check out the SCA promotional video that aired at the event detailing how we plan to approach these challenges.
We've held a few tasty fundraisers at the Belmar Zinga -- raising awareness and funds for our middle school in Tolotama!
